How much does boarding cost?

Pricing varies with high or low season.  Please ring for a specific quote.

Will my cat be too hot or cold?

For the discerning feline friends the cattery offers cosy indoor areas, optional electric warming blankets in winter, classical music, a balcony with a view and outstanding views of the bush and enclosed gardens.

My cat just loves to sleep in the sun, how long are they outside?

Each cat has daily access to an enclosed garden at no extra cost.  This includes climbing logs, places to lounge and an abundance of cat grass, penny royal and cat mint.

Do you charge extra for giving medication?

Oral/topical  medication is dispensed at no extra charge 1 – 4 times daily.  We require medication to be clearly labeled with the pets name and dosage regime.

My cat is a fussy eater, what do you feed and how often?

In the morning we feed good quality dry food ( Hill’s Science diet) and in the afternoon we serve various varieties of tinned fish as well as Cat’s Delight – a raw minced meat.

What vaccinations are required?

On arrival we need to view a current F4 or F5 vaccination certificate.

What happens if my cat gets sick during its stay?

We have twenty-four hour access to a local veterinarian who provides an excellent service.  We will also notify you or your contact person of the ailment.  Should you prefer we can contact your own vet and arrange transport to that vet should the illness prove serious.

You keep dogs too, won’t that upset my cat?

The cattery is surrounded by gardens and completely separate from the kennels.  There is absolutely no contact with the dogs and the cats soon settle down in a tranquil setting.

My cat is very shy and timid, what do you suggest?

We do spend time with each animal when we give them an individual health and tick check at the end of each day.  We use the opportunity for cuddle time. However, we also offer the option of Playtime when a member of staff will spend one on one time with your cat. For quieter animals, this involves a cuddle and some soothing grooming whilst relaxing outside. For the more kittenish, we get into the cat and mouse routine .

My cat is long haired, will you brush him/her?

We are happy to give a daily brush, but as it is time consuming, we do need to charge a small extra fee for this service.

Boarding establishments are very busy, especially in the holidays – will my cat get any attention?

At Woodcroft we have a high staff to pet ratio and we have extra regulars who help us during the holidays.  We thus manage to maintain our high level of care even during the peak times.  At the end of each day each animal is given a thorough health and tick check prior to final bed time.  This also doubles as cuddle and lullaby time.

Can I bring in bedding and/or toys?

We have plenty of bedding (courtesy of St Vincent de Paul) but feel welcome to bring these if you wish, but we ask you to limit it to one piece of bedding and 1 toy – clearly labeled.  No Gucci or Prada please – as things can disappear in the washing machine – never to be seen again!

There are two schools of thought about familiar items from home.  One is that it helps the cat settle in and the other is that it perpetuates the memory of home, thus unsettles the animal for longer.  Who said that being a cat owner was easy?

Can I bring my own food?

Certainly, we can cater for this and are happy to serve whatever you bring.

My cat gets diarrhoea when he/she comes home...

This is a perfectly natural adaptation to a change in diet.  At Woodcroft we serve a high quality dry food as well as a variety of tinned fish and raw minced meat.  Reverting to the normal diet at home may thus trigger a harmless short term change in bowel habit.

Will my cat be on it’s own? I’ve seen some catteries where they share a common pen.

At Woodcroft, cats do not share a pen unless they are from the same family and the owner has requested that they be together. We have several large pens that comfortably accomodate a family of two or three cats.

All pens have a quiet indoor area leading through to an outdoor area which then opens out to an enclosed garden. Even at our busiest times, every cat has access to the great outdoors at no extra cost.
